Seaports and European port policy
Ciro D’Amore
In recent decades, seaports have undergone extraordinary changes, evolving from mere transit points along land-sea routes to modern logistics platforms integrated into global supply chains. These changes have had a significant impact on port studies and have influenced the development of European port policy. However, few scholars have examined EU policies in the context of the broader changes in the port industry and the challenges faced by researchers in understanding these changes. This book focuses the research on policy content and aims to fill this gap by tracing the integration of the policy within the Ten-t framework, and by dissecting sector reform policies concerning port services into various stages. Additionally, proposes the use of heuristic tools commonly used in social sciences, but rarely employed in port research.
