Economic Analysis and Evaluations of Natural Gas Hydrates Exploitation by Injection of CO2
Hydrate–based Carbon Capture Technologies
Roberto Fazioli
Alongside conventional fossil fuels, notably oil, coal, and natural gas, a new source of natural gas discovered in the last few decades has moved into the focus of interest: the so-called “gas hydrates”. In this book the author aims to address, with the tools of economic analysis, the effects of a potentially revolutionary innovation of enormous importance in the global energy scenario: extraction of Natural Gas [CH4] from Natural Gas Hydrates [NGH], the so-called “ice-like solid crystalline compounds”, by injection of CO2, the so-called “Hydrate-based Carbon Capture” [HbCC] process. An innovation able to give room for radical changes to match a new sustainable development with reliability, efficiency, and security of energy supply for all industrial sectors of our countries.
