Joy Cranham

Joy Cranham is currently a Lecturer at the University of Bath. Her extensive twenty-year background in the Primary School sector, informed her determination to be an advocate for education that enhances children’s holistic development. Her work focuses on the crucial role familial relationships perform in children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development. Resisting deficit models of family, Joy champions approaches that illuminate diversity and promote inclusion. She uses research methodologies, including arts-based approaches, to amplify silenced voices which are often overlooked in policy and practice. Joy’s commitment to non-hierarchical relational pedagogies reflects her belief that inclusive education benefits everyone and produces a more just society.
